Derived from the first movement of Standridge's "Art(isms)" suite, this powerful concert work uses staccato textures and heroic melodies to create a unique concert statement. Commissioned by the 2014 Lake Hamilton High School Band of Pearcy, AR. Their director, Jon Shultz, has been a close friend ever since high school. He also has a penchant for asking me to do things at the last minute, giving me only 2 week to write this piece (which actually ended up being 2 days, as I had several other projects already scheduled). The title "Undecim" is latin for "eleven" referring both to the eleventh hour (the last opportunity to do things) and the metric feel of the beginning of the work. (Alfred Music)
